Lifestyle: Organic Feminine Products

Hello loves. Today we will be talking about a product that is close to my heart. If you are like me and on autopilot at the grocery store you have probably not given much thought as to the ingredients in our feminine care. As silly as it sounds I don’t think I even knew they had ingredients .  It is not often that we think about things such as the ingredients in feminine care products. I made the switch over two years ago and I want to share my experience with you.

First off I want to say why I made the switch. I personally have not had an allergic reaction to traditional feminine care, however, apparently that is really common. The reason why I switched was that I learned there were chlorine and bleach amongst other things in traditional feminine which to me was crazy! Who wants those crazy chemicals right next to one of our most sensitive and important parts of our body. All that I could think of was the same chemicals used to keep pools and bathrooms lean was going inside my body.It was a serious red flag, so I decided that research needed to happen and SOON.

I knew that trying a natural tampon would put me out of my comfort zone, I don’t know about you, but I am a need an applicator kind of girl and one that doesn’t pinch me. I am also not willing to give up my wings either.  knew this process was going to be a bit more difficult given my standards. I am all for the natural lifestyle, but I have a few things that I am not willing to give up. I also knew that I needed to consider price tag just like with natural foods, I assumed that natural and organic feminine would be more expensive.

I used to use U by Kotex, ya know the pretty ones with the polka dots and the fun colored applicator. At target, they retail for $6.99 for a count of 34 regular flow pads and the same cost for a box of tampons. The brand I use now, which is L Organic Super Compact tampons is 30 for $6.99 for tampons and $6.99 for 42 Organic super pads with wings. The prices are extremely similar, and the product is a target only brand to my knowledge, but let’s be honest I got to target all the time. Before finding this brand I would use the honest company pads, tampons, and liners and I loved them! However, they do come with a heavier price tag and you have to purchase them online.

Alright, let’s get into the nitty-gritty do these hold up and perform just like regular feminine care is expected to do. They come in all different kinds from light to heavy so they are a champ on your heaviest day or your lightest day. I have never had a leaking problem. They do not rub in any weird way, and a major bonus they have wings! The tampons are easy to insert and they have plastic applicator! can I get a heck yeah!!! ?!?

The question that I get asked a lot from friends is if I have noticed a difference in my period. Do the chemicals truly affect our bodies in a noticeable way? The honest answer is yes. When I switched to organic tampons my whole period changed ( it took a few cycles). It became lighter, it felt less angry, even the color was different. I feel so much better and I honestly didn’t think it would change a thing, I just didn’t like the idea of chemicals in my body.Turns out it changed a lot and I am so happy with my decision.

I wanted to let you know about my experience because I feel that what we put into our bodies is important. Us ladies have to look out for one another and this is how I am helping look out for you. If you have not tried an organic product before I highly recommend switching it up just for one cycle. If you hate them, I totally understand, but I honestly think you will see and feel a difference.

XOXO

Stacey
